28 Constellation Gong Pt 16

Sifu continued to explain about the relationship of nature and the constellations. It is Interesting to delve deeper into the philosophy of Qigong and the knowledge of our ancestors.
The more you hear the more you want to know to increase your own knowledge. China has two calendars one a lunar which is known as the white calendar as the moon was seen as white and also the a yellow calendar due to the colour of the sun, which is similar to the western calendar as it is divided into twelve months  but is also sub divided into another 12 giving them 24 divisions. The new year starts in February  as that is spring and the earth is preparing for growth.

Sifu explained how we should relate our practice with the seasons. If the days are hot, it is better to pick a cooler time of the day to practice also to choose a gentle form.If it is cold try and practice at a warmer time of that day and choose a more vigorous Qigong form. This is following the Dao

The form is getting more familiar at the beginning, so enabling us all to relax more into the form however the newer part towards the end is testing our co ordination .With practice it will become more familiar and hopefully we can relax into that also. I look forward to the next part. Thank you sifu for sharing this depth of knowledge.

Alan and I were saying in the breakout room how much these newer leg exercises remind us of Iron Lung Gong, especially the very new part with the hitting! Thanks Sigong for guiding us through this fascinating form! Lee B

28 Constellation is a fascinating form because of the movements but also because it has so much philosophy and ancient knowledge behind it. It is wonderful to get an insight into how the movement and the philosophy connect together. A great seminar.Thank you again Sifu. Peter A

More knowledge about the traditional Chinese calendar and how it relates to the change in energy during the year. Interesting to hear how we should remember to match our practice with the change in the seasons.
New part is surprising – 5 steps is quite different from the number of steps taken in the other directions. I wonder what the next part might be!
Thank you, Sigong.

Another interesting lecture on divisions of the year and energies of the months and seasons. Really poignant as we change into Autumn. I am looking forwards to putting the charts side by side.
The turning figure 8 hands and walking in various directions is still a little mind boggling but I think getting out in the fields will help! A great co-ordination exercise.
As darkness falls earlier it will be nice to see the stars’ twinkling more.
Always great to practise as a group with the group collective energy. Vashti

Forms like this one remind me of how challenging it was to learn how to rub your belly and pat your head at the same time. Always great to keep learning and challenging ourselves. Thanks, Sigong! – Kay

Interesting lecture on how the natural environment affects us and what kind of training we should do at different times of year. The knowledge of the 28 Constellations is getting deeper each seminar! The spiraling movements around the head are tricky but enjoyable to practice, they loosen up tight bits in the back nicely. The new movements are simple but powerful. Thank you Sigong. Christine

It is great to be able to now understand the later half of the form and to see how it works. The new movement feels good and I especially liked the lecture. Good to see how the seasons and their energies work and how and what to practice. Thank you Sifu!
