In part 3 of the Biu Tze seminar series, Grandmaster Tse started the session with an explanation of the four most important hands in Wing Chun, Taan Sau, Bong Sau, Fuhk Sau and Wu Sau. He went on to say that if these four hands are good, then our wing chun must be ok. How do we know if these hands are good? We must know many different ways to use the hands in many different contexts.
Instead of continuing the lecture, grandmaster Tse opted to test the groups knowledge of applications that use these four hands. We were invited to work in small groups to find three or more techniques of each hand and then we rejoined the main meeting. Grandmaster Tse then asked each person to explain a technique. While this way of learning can sometimes seem a little daunting, especially for more junior students, it’s an excellent way to keep everyone on their toes and make sure everyone takes the activity seriously. I always learn a lot from this kind of activity and today was no exception.
After the break we continued the Biu Tze form. grandmaster Tse demonstrated the first two sections and took questions after which we practiced together in groups again. The breakout rooms worked really well to elicit more questions and very soon we were all clear about a lot of the detail of the form.
As always, it was exciting to learn the new section of the form, hear all of the detail and then practice together to embed the new knowledge. I love to connect with my Kung Fu family to discuss the particulars of the form, especially those from around the world that I have less opportunity to see. I’m looking forward to be able to do this again at part 4 on 3rd May 2025.

Thank you sigong for another chance to go deeper into Biu Tze. The applications session at the was start was really good and I loved the time in the breakout rooms learning to the next part of the form. See you next time. Matt L
Great Biu Zi seminar number 3. Felt like we got a decent amount of progress through the form, whilst ensuring the detail along the way. Looking forward to the next one Sifu. Thank you. Clive
Part 3 of Biu Zi has been very enlightening to me focusing on various nuances and hidden details to the form. I particularly found it impressive how easy sijo explained each and every one of these details; making it clear and easy to understand for me.
Thank you to sijo and everyone involved in helping me understand this form further.

A lot of small details but big effects on the energy of the movements – very rewarding deep-dive.
Thank you, Sigong.

Very enjoyable 3rd part of Biu Zi today! I found the technique discussion for the four main hands in the lecture to be a good refresher. It was great with all the questions about the form and really getting into the small details. Thank you, Sigong. Best, Tom Hogg
The movements feel like they make a lot of sense to my body, much more so than when I was learning Tsum Kiu! Fun to pull together and think about applications as well in the lecture. Thanks Sigong for keeping us on our toes (and our heels!)

Very nice to get back to Biu Zi. It’s great to go through the form in such detail so we get a more thorough understanding of each movement. I’m enjoying the form. Thank you Sigong. Peter Hogg
The review of the 4 major hands and their respective applications was a nice start to the seminar with having to think critically, and of course with some imagination, to come up with so many different techniques whilst adhering to the Wing Chun principles. Adding another section of Biu Zi was fun and appreciated the deep exploration of the details of the form. Looking forward to going deeper in this skill! Andrew O.
Great Wing Chun seminar, lots of good questions from all present that helps so much to make the details much clearer. Thank you Sifu. Peter A
Very impressive seminar, highlights the importance of every detail, and encourages thorough understanding – each element can be explained with confidence, and reflections happen organically throughout the course. Thank you very much Si Gong. Jordan
Thank you Sigong for another BiuZi seminar. Rotating the stance and hitting with elbow feels better but needs still more practice for it to feel more natural. Looking forwards to next part and have more details polished!

Sifu, thank you for another interesting course on Biu Zi. It is great to get into the detail and gain more clarity. Looking forward to the next one! Thanks Peter
Thankyou TaiSigong for Part 3 of Biu Zi, I am really enjoying these seminars. It was great to go over the techniques of the basic 4 Hands: Taan Sau, Bong Sau, Fuuk Sau, Wu sau. The level of detail for Biu Zi is very high, and I notice new bits each time. The new bit with Maan Sau is familiar to me but I knew no details or what it was for – looking forward to discovering more about Maan Sau in future parts! Nice to see everyone in the breakout rooms and thanks for all the help. Rod.
Another incredibly detailed BiuJi seminar. The deeper you go the more you then start to understand about the form and the energy used. Thank you Taisigong and all those in the breakout room who helped immensely. Looking forward to part 4. Eric P.
Thank you Sigong, I really appreciate going over all the various techniques and being reminded of the wealth possibilities we have with even just the 4 basic hands. Zooming into the details of any part of Wing Chun is always enjoyable as much as it is enlightening. And we’re only just getting started with Bui Zi, so looking forward to plenty more. Sam
Enjoyed part 3 of the Bui Ji seminar, lots of good questions that highlighted some details in the form that are not apparent on first go. Looking forward to some more. Thank you Sigong. Christine
