Which Has More Benefits – Acupuncture Points or Channels?
Part 4
One of my students recently asked me about the effect of putting the Láogōng point to the Qìhù 氣戶 point. The Láogōng 勞宮 point belongs to the Zú Yángmíng Wèi Jīng 足陽明胃經 (Yang Ming Stomach Channel), and the Qìhù point relates to the lungs and the heart. So, does this benefit the stomach, or the heart and lungs more?
This is a good question, and one that often comes up. If the Qì goes to an area, then that area will benefit. If the Qì goes to a channel, then the channel will benefit. If the Qì goes to both, then both will benefit.
It is like pouring water onto an area. The area will get wet immediately, and so will benefit. If we keep pouring water, then the water will eventually flow and reach other areas. However, the area where we pour the water first will be the wettest, and so will have more water than the other areas.
So, when we put our hand on a part of our body, the Qì will go there straight away. Everything else is secondary.
