Advanced Level of Sahp Sīng Bouh 十星步 - Ten Star Footwork
Part 5
When we stand like this the weight is equally on both legs. Then we will build the strength in both legs and one will not be stronger than the other or at least very close to equally strong. It also trains the inside of the body making both kidneys strong and healthy. It makes the hips strong and also in the end it is good for our mind and the Qi will circulate on both sides of the brain. This makes our mind clear and so we can see things and think clearly. Without good health we will not have a good level of martial art. We need a healthy body in order to be able to defend ourselves. Also Yìh Jih Kìhm Yèuhng Máh is useful when we are in areas where there is not much space to move, like in a corner, on a table on the top of a mountain. When it is grounded and our Gūng Lihk is strong, then we can attack and defend against our enemies.
Second Star: Yāt Geuk Jōng 一脚樁 – One Leg Stance
This means one leg stance. In fighting, we need to be able to kick and so if our legs are strong, then our kicks will be powerful. But, to kick we also need good balance on one leg. Yāt Geuk Jōng 一脚樁 is therefore used to train for kicking, but it can also be used when we are in a position where we cannot stand on two feet, like on plum blossom poles or on certain buildings any situation where we might need to fight standing on one leg
