Hard Qigong Level 2 Pt 2

Hard Qigong is a very special skill and, as such, there needs to be certain amount of respect in the way we hold it and how we train.

This was the second seminar of the second level of Hard Qigong and, as is now expected, it began by running through the list of specially defined instructions or rules. To train Hard Qigong, we must abide by a certain code of conduct, not only to preserve the skill, but to train in a safe and correct way. Having completed the first level, everyone in the seminar is already aware of the importance of this, but it becomes much more apparent for the second level; this training is serious. After running through the rules and any questions that followed, we had a short break which is for Hard Qigong training particularly, a good and necessary opportunity to prepare.

Following the break and the warm up, we began by reviewing the names of movements and the type of energy to be practised in each one. Sigong would first demonstrate the movements from the front and side, and explain each one carefully. Questions would naturally follow as everyone is eager to get everything precise. Next we would follow along, then repeat by ourselves before finally breaking out into small groups to practice, watch and help each other.

Second level Hard Qigong requires more strength and the forms are much more challenging, so at this stage in our training we were careful not to push ourselves too much. As well as ensuring the movements are correct, it’s very important to build up practice and repetitions gradually and naturally. The next two movements we learnt continued the general trend of becoming more difficult and intense. Upon coming to the end of the seminar after the learning section and as listed in the instructions, we finished with some meditation to settle and store our Qi.

For many of us this training is quite different to anything we normally practice, it is not to be taken lightly and following the rules is important however, the benefits are immense. The amount power and energy developed through this training is amazing and by the end every one of us are warmer, happier and feel more energised.

I took it easy today, as I have the flu. But I am actually much better now. Even though I still feel sore and stuffy, just having a lot of energy makes it easy to handle. Amazing skill!
