If you haven’t had a chance to watch Grandmaster Tse (Sigong) demonstrate Hard Qigong – taking blows to the body and having bricks and slabs broken on him with a sledge hammer – then you’re missing out!
Students just finished learning the last moves for Level 1 Hard Qigong. Hard Qigong is a fast and powerful way to build up energy, strengthen bones, improve health, lose weight, develop internal power and external resilience. We use a combination of movements and meditation which are based on ancient Chinese skills often practiced by warriors and monks to help them withstand the blows taken in fights and to stay fit and well.
Some students are practicing for health alone. Others are practicing to be tested -physically. For those who are testing on 1 December, there will be an intense training period in the months to come as we continue to build up for the test.
To help prepare us for the test Sigong is hosting a polishing day in September and arrangements are made to help students who are abroad in Australia, New Zealand, the Americas and elsewhere.
It’s a special and unique skill – one that Sigong stays true to the traditional teaching methods. There are no flimsy boards or blocks that can be easily broken. It’s the real deal and exciting to have been able to resume this training again post-covid! Many are looking forward to moving onto level 2 next year.
Thank you to Sigong and to all the breakout room seniors who have helped us polish. See you in September!
