In this second programme of this series, Grandmaster Michael Tse introduces Seven Star Wing Chun Ma.
Uniquely, he has arranged and refined these seven footwork methods into what he terms Seven Star Wing Chun Ma. These include Biu Ma (Shoot Forward Step) and Fai Ma (Fast Step) and Tzi Yauh Ma (Freedom Step) and others. Without footwork, we cannot easily avoid attacks or close the distance to attack an opponent. We also need footwork to improve our position – with a change of even a few centimetres we might be able to penetrate our opponent’s centreline and attack. Without good footwork, a stronger opponent will always have the advantage over a smaller opponent.
Grandmaster Michael Tse is a senior student of Great Grandmaster Ip Chun, the eldest son of legendary Great Grandmaster Ip Man. His over 40 years experience of not only Wing Chun but Qigong, Chun Yuen and Chen Taijiquan which gives him an additional understanding of how to use, control and divert energy which is vital to developing high level Wing Chun skill. He is able to open up the true essence of the skill and make it easier for everyone to learn, understand and with practice, one day master.
