Three Hún 三魂

Part 4

As we have seen, the Three Hún 三魂 are Tiān Hún 天魂 – Heaven Hún which is called Tāi Guāng 胎光 – Embryo Light.  Rén Hún 人魂 – Person Hún, which is called Shuǎng Líng 爽靈 – Fast Spirit. And De Hún 地魂 – Earth Hún, which is called Yōu Jīng 幽精 – Ghost Jing

For a healthy person these three Hún are in good condition. Each Hún has its purpose and keeps us healthy and in good spirits. Tāi Guāng is Yáng 陽, and it gives us positive energy, a positive attitude and behaviour. It wants us to be good. Shuǎng Líng is Yīn 陰. It keeps our emotions good, our feelings good, helps us learn and supports our intuition. Yōu Jīng is more Yīn and it relates to our sexual condition, our deep feeling with other people like love and other emotions and so it needs Tāi Guāng to balance it. So you can see that the three Hún relate to our spirit and emotions. Hun in daytime is on our eyes and this means whatever we see our Hún will connect with it and respond. At night it is our dreams. So even if we do not move our body the Hún will still be working on our emotions and feelings and in particular, whatever we are thinking about will affect our dreams. So the Three Hún need good Qì 氣 to balance them.
