We can exercise to improve the physical imbalance and we can do meditation to improve the mental imbalance, but if we are imbalanced we may find it hard to relax.

Insomnia

Part 4

8. Imbalance

Imbalance as two parts, the first part is physical imbalance. Physical imbalance is like when we cannot stand properly, cannot straighten our back, or either side of the body – left and right, are uneven. The other part of imbalance is mental imbalance, for example, we cannot understand certain things that the majority of people do understand. Also most people will be able to recognise danger in order to avoid accidents, but those people with a mental imbalance may not see the danger and so are at risk of having an accident. These are all actually due to our Qì 氣 and our health. When the Qì is strong, we will be healthy. We can exercise to improve the physical imbalance and we can do meditation to improve the mental imbalance, but if we are imbalanced we may find it hard to relax and settle, and this can cause sleeping problems which again if left too long can lead to insomnia.

9. Weak kidneys

In Chinese medicine, the kidneys create our energy. If we are weak, and have no energy, when we fall asleep we will wake up again because we do not have the energy to continue our rest. Normally, when People are tired and go to sleep, when they wake up feeling refreshed and full of energy. However, if we wake up and always feel weak, then we are not really sleeping and we are losing our Qì.
