Insomnia
Part 7
We sit on a chair to do our meditation, with our feet, barefoot on the floor to make a better contact with the floor. We can even move the chair outside in the back garden so that our feet contact the earth. This means all the negative and sick Qì 氣 can be released down to the earth. The earth is very powerful and, in time it can take all negative things.
Our knees and ankles should be vertically in line with the floor as any bending or deforming of the posture can slow down our flow of Qì. We should place the palms of our hands comfortably on our thighs and our shoulders and elbows should also be vertically in line. We should sit so that our backs are straight and that the Bǎihuì 百會 and Huìyīn 會陰 points are also vertically in line. We should also keep our heads straight so that we are not looking up or down. Now we can close our eyes and our mouth, and breathe through our nose. Then we can start to relax the body, we start from the top of the head, going down to the face and the neck, next to the shoulders, the upper arms, elbows, lower arms, palms and the fingers. Then we relax the chest and the upper back, the lower back, the stomach and waist. Then we try and let go of everything and then we also let everything happen naturally. If we are not relaxed enough then we can repeat the relaxation process two more times.
