28 Constellations
Part 10
The next constellation in the Northern Xuánwǔ 玄武 is Wēi 危, which means danger. It has three stars which form a triangle, like the roof of a house. Anyone up on the roof of a house is in danger. If we remember the previous constellation, Xū 虛 – Emptiness and the foundation of a house (which had tow stars that form a straight line). So, Xū is the foundation of the house, and is located on the waist of the turtle, and Wēi is the roof of the house, with three stars in a triangle, on the lower part of the turtle. However, we need more than just a roof and foundations to make a house, we need walls and rooms. So, the last four constellations form the house. This shows the imagination of the ancient Chinese astrologers. Wēi connects to the western sign Aquarius.
