28 Constellations
Part 15
The next constellation in the Xī Fāng Bái Hǔ 西方白虎 – Western White Tiger is Wèi 胃. Wèi has three stars, and it means stomach. Since the stomach is for digesting food, in the Xī Fāng Bái Hǔ it represents food. Whenever people go to war, the first thing they need to consider is food. Without enough food an army cannot last very long. Without food the soldiers will lose their spirit and energy for the war. Wèi also relates to the Western sign Aries, like Lóu 婁 – Gathering Together.
The next constellation is Mǎo 昴 (some people pronounce it Ang). Mǎo means lifting the head into a high position. So, in this context it means to a high position in government. Apart from the Emperor, there were ministers who worked in departments so make the laws and pass judgement on the people. So before we can go to war, we need to research the laws so that everyone will agree and support the action.
Mǎo has seven stars and belongs to Taurus in Western Astrology.
