Speed of Movement
Part 2
Qìgōng 氣功 practice is about using our Qì 氣 to develop good health. We practise our movements to make the Qì flow better, then the blood will also flow better. Our circulation is better and then the function of the internal and external body will good, and this will keep us healthy.
In the movement, Hold Qì 抱氣, from the First 64, when we separate the Qì ball we need to immediately bring it back together, but we must not bend down too quickly as we need to keep the Qì in our hands. When the hands are in the correct position which they are apart on both sides of the shoulders, we then bend down and the hands stay in the same place, we just turn the palms to face inwards. It may appear that the movement is quick, but it is only the bending down which is quick. Bending down as we start to separate the hands is actually too slow and causes us to lose the Qì in our hands. Most of the time we move slowly as this helps us to relax, but sometimes we need to move more quickly to maintain the connection with the Qì. We need to follow the flow of the Qì, but Qì is controlled by our body and should come naturally.
