Internal
What is internal Qigong? We always say, “Move internally”, but what exactly does this mean? Obviously, internal means “inside”, and in Qigong we move from the inside. This means we must not move our body individually. For example, when we move a hand, we cannot just move our hand; we must move from the waist.
However, even if we move from the waist, the movement may still be only external, so we must move in a relaxed way. When we relax the whole body, we will move slowly, and our breathing will synchronise with the movements. Moving like this will make us feel warm, and the breathing will be strong.
This kind of breathing we call Reverse Breathing. When we inhale, the Dāntián will pull in, and when we breathe out, the Dāntián will move out, and this makes the circulation strong. This means the Qì and the blood circulation are strong. You will feel your Qì and the warmth because of your blood flowing.
This is what we mean by internal, and this internal movement is Qigong movement. When we move like this, all the organs and other parts of the body will be healthier.
