Swimming Dragon Pt3

There are so many aspects to Qigong, the movements, the details, the flow and the meaning behind it all. Today we had a chance to ask any question about Qigong and dive deeper into the meaning
With part 3 of the Swimming Dragon series of seminars, we are now well into the form and its specific movements. This time we learnt a new movement, Fisherman Cast the Net, which is performed on both sides. Swimming Dragon form is quite unusual in that a lot of the movements are performed on both sides, not just one side. It helps develop the brain and coordination, and in a way it is quite satisfying to experience the movements on both sides of the body. Many people like the Swimming Dragon form, and often it is their favourite form. It works on the legs a lot, and creates a lot of heat and Qi as a result.

There are so many aspects to Qigong, the movements, the details, the flow and the meaning behind it all. Today we had a chance to ask any question about Qigong and dive deeper into the meaning. During the question and answer session, Sigong seamlessly and smoothly answered a wide range of questions, all directly from his knowledge and without preparation. Some questions were related to the reasons for the benefit of certain movements, others about temperature (hot, cold, natural / man made as in sweat lodges), when and how to eat, what to do after an injury and why horse stance is the go to solution, whether to practice forms following the syllabus order. The last item was a question that Sigong had been asked previously regarding visualisation, and the difference between imagining what the movements do when we actually perform them, which brings mind and body together, and just thinking about it without moving, which can make it hard to go back to normal afterwards. I’ll look forward to Sigong writing about some of these topics in future Qigong Dao articles.

It was great to have a question and answer session and of course my mind went blank but some interesting topics came up and it was great to hear the answers, deepening our understanding. Again, “Listen to your body”.
I just love Swimming Dragon and it’s great to go through it in such detail and become way more conscious of every movement. It really does open the body.
Thank you Sigong.

I’m starting to get a sense of the fluid movements of the form and how they differ from the other forms I’ve learned. Practicing together is also incredibly motivating.

An amazing form, great to repeat it and to get more details. Thank you so much, Sifu. Kind regards, Nina

Great Q&A session. I feel like one question opens up to many more and it creates a snowball effect – so much knowledge!
Lovely doing the form together. It has a very characteristic whirlpool effect on the qi which leaves the body feelong cleansed and vibrant.
Thank you, Sigong.
