What is Shén 神? It is spirit. When our Qì 氣 is very full, you can see our spirit in our appearance. We will look bright; our mind will be clear and we can even see through things and can see the cause and effect of actions. When we reach the Shén level, we might sometime do things that other people might not understand at first, but only realise why later on. People who have the level of Shén are very wise and enlightened. They may not be very educated or have read many books, or have been around many people, but they know what to do. This is a master. There are a lot of Chinese masters who were not very educated and some who did not even know how to reach and write, but they behaved well and knew how to handle people. Sometime people would come to challenge the master, but the master knew how to win without causing more problems. When we learn Kung Fu and Tàijíquán 太極拳 we get tremendous benefits and at the end we feel better, healthy and know how to handle difficult situation. Problems always come to weak people. Stronger people treat these difficulties as learning opportunities.
