Tàijí Poem
Part 2
If we are disciplined and do something daily, then we have achieved something and feel good. We all need this. We all need to feel like we have done and achieved something and then we can enjoy the rest of our day.
When we practise Tàijíquán 太極拳, we feel good, as the skill is good for our health and teaches us self-defence skill. So, when we practise regularly, the first thing we notice is we start to feel healthier and so for most things we feel more positive. Then we look good and our spirit is strong, and this is because the body is in a good condition, and the mind is clear and positive. If we practise our Tàijíquán three times everyday, which will take about half an hour, then our minds will be relaxed and stress-free, even mind is empty. For most people, this is very difficult to achieve. We can do this when we practise Tàijíquán as it is an internal movement. Some people say it is an internal martial art or Nèi Jiā Quán 內家拳. Tàijíquán is not slow, it is internal, and the most important thing is for us to be healthy which means the internal body must be healthy.

So, we need a good Sīfú to teach us the proper skill and then we can go and practise ten thousand times and get it right.

The other side of Tàijíquán is the fighting skill. The fighting skill also has a theory and follows the principles of Yīn 陰 and Yáng 陽. This means that when we are fighting, we can use the soft skill and the hard skill.
