White Crane Sword – Part 37

A great return to a magnificent form and the challenge to do it well. The White Crane Sword always gives me a strong focus and the ability to be flexible. I have been asked about Chun Yuen itself, and was asked how it makes me fit like a cardiovascular workout. I demonstrated a little bit of Xing Shou, the Chun Yuen hand form, and they said isn’t that a series of techniques? I said yes and said they could try to do it. When they tried to copy me, they started to struggle and became a little out of breath. I was still doing the form and moving on, I said how are you now? He said, “I cannot do half the moves you can.” I told him that I was showing him the easier way and that my Sifu would want my movements to be lower quicker and sharper. I remember the look on his face to this day, and I still smile because I knew then that I have improved and continue to do so in small and different ways.

The Chun Yuen System is not meant to break you, with the hand forms and weapons it enhances you not just externally but internally, and not just your organs but your bones. It also enhances your endurance, your stamina and your health. You will find your knowledge of yourself will greatly improve also I when practise it still feels good when I finish. I truly enjoy the White Crane Sword, and the challenges it brings. Sigong said repetition is key and listen to your body to know yourself. Thank you Sigong and Siba and Sifu for sharing your wealth of knowledge.

I recognise the new part is the advanced white crane warm up that Sigong tried to teach us in person before COVID, but I was never sure I got it and certainly had no idea how to write it down! I think I got it this time, but I still have no idea how I can write it down… Thanks Sigong for increasing the challenge!

Thank you Sigong for the great seminar this morning. White crane sword is a tricky but fantastic form and whilst some sections continue to confuse me I am gaining clarity in others. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful help in the break out rooms and I look forward to another challenging seminar next time.

Great to refresh the brain with White Crane Sword, though I must admit some of the later parts feel like I’ve gone from broadband to old school dial up with lots of buffering, am sure with patience and time it’ll get downloaded. Thanks, Sigong and all! – Kay

Great to be back refreshing White Crane. The new part feels very tricky at the moment. However, like so many of the previous parts, I’m hoping with time and practise, it will become smooth and clear.
Thanks Sigong and everyone else for your help.

New part… well, work in progress. This form never fails to challenge the coordination! Feeling great now – circulation strong.
Thank you Sigong.
