Taai Sīgōng Ip Chun’s 葉準太師公 100th Birthday
Part 4
As a result, Hong Kong government cancelled all public functions advised that all citizens should stay at home. This meant that the organisers had to cancel the birthday dinner on the 2nd of September, but they said that if the typhoon weakened and it was safe, the dinner would be held on the 3rd of September instead. Fortunately, typhoon did move away and weaken on the 1st of September and so the dinner party could take place on the 3rd of September. Everyone was happy on hearing this news as many people have come a long way to see Great Grandmaster Ip Chun, some like me had come from Europe, others from America, Australia and a lot of people had come from mainland China. However, although the dinner could now take place typhoon had disrupted a lot of transport and so some flights, even after the 4th of September, and trains from the mainland would not arrive in time. This meant that around 30% of the students not make it. Some of them asked if they could be refunded although many did not ask for that. Fortunately, I always plan ahead so I had arrived in Hong Kong on the 25th of August. This meant that I could take my time, spend time with my family and I even had time to go to Guangzhou, and opened a bank account to make my future travels in China easier.
