Blindman
Part 2
Wing Chun was created by a woman, so it is a woman’s skill. Women are usually not as strong as men and so how does a weaker person fight against a stronger opponent? This is based on how to use the opponent’s strength against them, so we can use less energy, but of course. This means we need to know what the opponent’s energy is. When people fight, they will use a lot of strength. So, we need to relax and contact their hands or body and then we will know their strength and the way they are using it. During fighting we must have contact, and this is usually hand to hand contact, so by touching the opponent’s hand we will know what their energy is doing, and we can use it or redirect it. In Wing Chun, we have Chī Sáu黐手- Sticking Hands, where we keep in contact with the opponent’s hands, we stick to their hands, reading their energy as we both attack and defend against each other. By practising Chī Sáu we begin to learn how to use the opponent’s energy against them.
