Grandmaster Ip Chun at 101
Part 1
I keep in touch with my Sīfú 師父, Grandmaster Ip Chun 葉準 and regularly text his eldest son Ip Kwong Chu 葉廣超. On the 22 June I sent him a text as I would normally and he told me that Sīfú had a fever and had been admitted to hospital, where the doctors had given him medicine to lower his temperature. I was very worried to hear that Sīfú was in hospital. He is over 100 years old and so for anyone of that age to have any kind of illness can be a serious problem, or lead to other problems! I kept in regular touch with Kwong Chu, then a week later I texted my Sīhīng 師兄 Ho Kai 何基 to ask him about Sīfú situation, he said he was still in hospital and was in bed, not moving very much and just sleeping. Hearing this made me worry even more! And so I decided to go back to Hong Kong to see him.

Sīfú is very important to me. My life today and my Wing Chun skill is because of him and the way he taught me. He teaches all his students openly and in a friendly way, and Sīfú has dignity, a good image. This together with his high level Wing Chun skill makes people respect very highly. I am very lucky to have a teacher like this -so I booked my ticket to Hong Kong.
