Grandmaster Ip Chun at 101
Part 4
Eventually Sīfú 師父 recognised us and spoke to us. His voice was still very quiet, and it was hard to hear him and he said, “Hi” in Cantonese. Even though his voice was weak I could see that he had good colour on his face, and when I touched his hand, his skin was smooth. He tried to wave and talk to me in particular, as I stood closest to him. Ip Kwong Chiu 葉廣超 and Kwok Tak Yin 郭德賢 were standing at the end of the bed and I think they wanted me to have a chance to talk to Sīfú more as I had come from a long way.
I looked at Sīfú and was amazed that he was 100 years old, but, when I am writing this article, he is now 101 as his birthday was the 25 August. He is amazing! I always look at Sīfú and see that he has a longevity face, but he is beyond longevity. If it were not for the Covid Lockdown in Hong Kong, he would have still been going to class to teach and that is remarkable! How many people are like him and can still go to class when they are in their 90’s?
