Grandmaster Ip Chun at 101
Part 5
One of the most important things for me is visiting my Sīfú 師父, Ip Chun 葉準, seeing him and just being around. During our lives, we all need to make decisions. We always want to make the right decision, though sometimes the choice is not completely right or completely wrong, so we choose what is more right. However, sometimes something is absolutely right and urgent, and so we must do it without hesitation. Going to see Sīfú in Hong Kong was one of these. I was so happy to be able to go and see him three times. He was still recovering, so sometimes we didn’t talk too much, but I was still happy to be there with him.
Whilst I was in Hong Kong, Kwok Tak Yin 郭德賢 invited me to his class in Shatin. I love to Chī Sáu 黐手 with different people, so I was happy to go. This used to be Sīfú’s class until he went to the nursing home. Kwok Tak Yin is a good Sīfú. He looks after his students and they all respect him, they are like a family, and this is exactly how my Sīfú teaches, and I am the same. We all have lots of students and some of them have been with us for a long time, 10,15 or even 30 years. This means the relationship between the Sīfú and students is very good.
